Our Story
Nearly 50 years of keeping engines running.
Clarks Lawn and Garden Equipment started in 1976 as a small engine repair shop. Back then, it was simple: fix what's broken, do it right, and treat people fairly. That's still how we operate today.
Where it all started
In 1976, Clarks opened its doors in Oregon City with a straightforward mission: provide honest, reliable small engine repair to the local community. No gimmicks, no upselling - just solid work at a fair price.
Over the years, we've grown. We added outdoor power equipment sales. We became authorized dealers for the brands we trust. In 2007, we started selling and servicing home standby generators - a decision that's helped hundreds of families keep the lights on during Oregon's unpredictable weather.
The certifications that matter
Rob, the owner, has spent over 40 years earning the highest certifications in the industry. These aren't participation trophies - they're proof that when you bring your equipment to Clarks, you're getting expertise that most shops simply don't have.

What we believe
We believe in translating the technical jargon into plain English. You shouldn't need an engineering degree to understand what's wrong with your mower or why your generator needs service.
We believe in standing behind our work. When something goes sideways, we don't disappear - we help you get it handled.
And we believe that customer service isn't a department - it's the whole point. That's why our motto has always been:
"Generators is what we sell. Customer service is what we do best."
Looking ahead
Today, we're proud to serve over 850 local clients. We've expanded into home standby generators, sheds, U-Haul rentals, and tow hitch installation - but our core hasn't changed. We're still the same family-owned shop that opened in 1976.
If you've got equipment that needs fixing or you're thinking about a generator for your home, stop by or give us a call. We're real people who answer the phone - and we'd be happy to help.
